While it’s possible to alter nearly any interface element in WinterBoard, not all themes include fixes for the app switcher ‘minus’ badge–the button you press to remove backgrounded apps. Depending on your theme, the red badge can stick out like a sore thumb, and you might be looking for something neutral.
The Tweak: Black X App Switcher is a Cydia tweak that replaces the ‘no entry’ symbol for closing backgrounded apps with the same black ‘X’ badge for deleting apps from the springboard.
Room to improve: While the tweak works just fine–the red badge was replaced on my iPad without any fuss–it would be interesting to see the app do more. I’d like to see options to set custom colors, change colors on the fly and apply the color change to other badges beyond the switcher.

Where to find: Black X App Switcher can be found on Cydia in the ModMyi repository. It’s another free Christmas app made by ‘greensnow’. There are no settings–the tweak is enabled in MobileSubstrate on install.
Synergy: Want the notification badges to match the black X buttons? The Colored Badges HD theme for Winterboard includes black badges in addition to many other colors and textures, and is great to have when you’re mixing and matching themes. Colored Badges HD is free and is also available in ModMyi repository.
Black X App Switcher works best with themes that don’t account for the switcher.
