With Instagram introducing video it has sent shockwaves through Vine and other similar video sharing services. One of the only downfalls with Instagram video, however, is that you can’t upload video from your camera roll.
You are forced to make Instagram your go to video recording app for social video when really it isn’t always ideal for it to be. When taking pictures with Instagram you have the option to choose photos from your camera roll, so it would make sense for Instagram Video to have this functionality right?
If you agree then you will want to check out the InstaChooser tweak that has landed on Cydia recently. What InstaChooser does is adds an import button when you go into video mode in Instagram that allows you to import video from your camera roll.
I will say that the way InstaChooser implements the functionality isn’t the best unfortunately though. For starters (I am being a little picky) the Import button doesn’t match the UI and then upon tapping the button an annoying popup appears that states “Y U NO USE CAPTURE!?” You then have to tap “I NO CARE” or “I’m Sorry” to continue.
Once you do import a video from your camera roll keep in mind that it still only takes the first 15 seconds of it (there are no options to crop the video).
The tweak isn’t bad, but it isn’t the most polished tweak out there. If you want to be able to import videos from the camera roll to Instagram though it is your only choice at the moment.
You can find InstaChooser in the BigBoss repo for $0.99. Let us know what you think of the tweak in the comments section below.
