It was only a month ago that Apple seeded iOS 7.0.5 and there’s already a new one. Apple has just released two new updates to its mobile operating system, iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6.
The iOS 7.0.6 update is for iPhone 4 and later, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 and later and carries a fix for SSL connection verification. The build number is 11b651, weighs 13.6 MB in size and is available as an OTA update. Here’s what Apple had to say about the update:
Available for: iPhone 4 and later, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 and later
Impact: An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS
Description: Secure Transport failed to validate the authenticity of the connection. This issue was addressed by restoring missing validation steps.
Immediately after releasing iOS 7.0.6, Apple seeded iOS 6.1.6 (build number: 10B500) for the iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch (4th generation), also carrying a fix for SSL connection verification.
Both iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6 are available via OTA updates, which can be accessed via Settings > Update. And as usual with every iOS update, prominent jailbreakers such as MuscleNerd have coined in asking users not to update to iOS 7.0.6 if they want to keep their jailbreak, for now. iOS 6 users can safely update to iOS 6.1.6 and still keep their jailbreak, confirmed winocm, but you will have to wait for an update to the P0sixspwn tool.
If the update is jailbreak friendly, we will let you know and a patch or update to Evasi0n7 should be released soon. For now, this is all we know about the new updates. If you’re going to install them, let us know if you find any new changes or other bug fixes.
