Do you want to play PlayStation and N64 Games on your iOS device? Yes, we’re talking about early console games made for the PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64. Well, with the RetroArch iOS emulator, you can now play your favorite console games on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Although, you will need to jailbreak your iOS device first, as the emulator requires a jailbroken device to function.
The RetroArch app, once installed from Cydia, will be accessible directly from the Homescreen. The tweak is easy to install, like any other tweak available in Cydia. Simply launch Cydia, search for RetroArch and install it.
Now, you’re going to have to download ROMS to actually play using the installed app. A quick Google search will give you plenty of options to choose from. For the N64 ROMS, you can download them using Safari and open it on the emulator. For the PlayStation games though, you’ll have to use a desktop browser to download, then use a tool such as iExplorer and transfer the downloaded ROM to your iOS device.
You’ll also need to have SSH installed on your iOS device so your PC or Mac can get root access to your device. If you’ve jailbroken using the TaiG tool, you don’t have to install SSH as it’s already installed. If you used the Pangu tool, then you’ll need to search for ‘afc2add’ on Cydia and install it. Below is a tutorial video showing how it’s all done.
And that’s how you play Nintendo 64 and PlayStation games on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Try it out and let us know how you like this emulator.
