The developers over at iPhonelslam are currently working on converting an iPad 3G into a fully functional iPhone. This includes the ability to make calls, send text messages and even FaceTime call by numbers right on the iPad 3G. The developers are planning on releasing such functionality in the form of a Cydia tweak and have actually made substantial progress.
For all of you skeptics out there iPhonelslam has uploaded a demo of their progress which you can watch below…
iPhonelslam states that no additional hardware will be required for this tweak to work on the iPad. They also state that just like the iPhone the iPad 3G will be able to receive calls and text messages. Personally the idea of someone answering a call from their iPad makes me chuckle, but it will be interesting to see how this tweak actually pans out and how many iPad 3G owners will actually be interested in such a tweak.
