There have been numerous lockscreen glitches that have been discovered in the past and it looks like the iOS 5.0/iOS 5.0.1 firmware is home to another one. You see, iPhone Islam has pointed out a glitch where you can access an iPhone’s contacts via the Phone.app with a passcode in place. The glitch has to do with sliding a missed call notification from the lockscreen while your iPhone is searching for service, and requires perfect timing.
You can take a look at the video demo of this glitch below.
When this glitch is actually carried out you can access the phone.app in its entirety. Meaning that you have complete access to contacts, and also have the ability to make calls. If you watched the video above you will see that actually getting this glitch to work is extremely tedious. In fact, it really posses no risk to everyday users unless someone had the time to steal your iPhone and perform this glitch, which is not likely.
Regardless, I am sure we will see Apple patching this iOS 5 lockscreen glitch in the release of the iOS 5.1 firmware expected to debut some time in March. What do you think of the glitch? Share your responses in the comments.
