NOTE: Please read the following updates at the bottom of this article!
Torrents can be a touchy subject. Generally, we do not support or condone piracy, but there are some of us here who believe in the “try before you buy” philosophy. When a great app is released for our favourite hand held device, we can’t ignore it.
Demonoid, a popular, private torrent tracker, has released an iOS app, in Cydia. If you do any torrent downloading with Demonoid, this is a must have app. This app allows you to browse all the torrents on the site. Once you find what you’re looking for, you can push the torrent file to your computer, at home, and have the file downloaded by the time you get there. The remote capability is compatible with Vuze, Transmission, and, UTorrent.
Here’s the details:
Requires demonoid.me account
If you do not already have a www.demonoid.me account,
do not purchase this app.iDemonoid provides an mobile friendly interface to the popular private tracker www.demonoid.me. You must already be a registered member of www.demonoid.me in order to use iDemonoid. iDemonoid allows you to push your torrent downloads to your computer and keeps a history of all downloads. You can also create filters so that you can easily find your favourite torrents within the hundreds of torrents posted everyday. If you do not already have a www.demonoid.me account, do not purchase this app.
iDemonoid features:
-Supports retina display on iPhone 4
-Supports multitasking on iOs 4.x
-Recents, Favourites, Search, Download History and Forum in-app support.
-Remotely sending torrents toVuze (Azureus), Utorrent and Transmission Bittorrent Clients.
iDemonoid is available now, under the BigBoss repo, for $2.99.
I purchased this app, so I can honestly say (without being obligated by receiving freebees) that it works really well. It is nice to have this remote capability for this tracker. $2.99 may be a steep price for some of you. There are alternatives, for controlling your torrents remotely. If you use Transmission, there is a web app, that works great on the iPhone. You just have to have the URL of the torrent file you want to add. Recently, an app called “iControlBits” was released in the App Store, that can remotely control Transmission. It goes for $1.99.

Newspost – Apr/26/2011
Warning about IPhone App
There is an IPhone app being sold, and the author claims that it is the official Demonoid App. There is No such thing, and we do not have anything to do with the app, nor authorized it in any way. Also, although this is just a guess and we have no proof denying it or confirming it, the app could easily be used to steal users accounts by sending the login information to the author.
UPDATE #2: Anonymous:
This application is not supported by Demonoid.me, and therefore must be considered to be a clever way to steal user’s information.

This not an official app approved by Demonoid. There is no support for it from Demonoid, ever.
It may even steal your accounts.

Why would you not update your article letting everyone know this was not released by Demonoid? Do you have some kind of stake in this application and a reason for deceiving people?

Scam, sealing your info…

Don’t you love the “reporting” they do… Must be working with the app authors to help steal data or the music industry to bust people. What a horrible site this is.

seeing that it did NOT log me in right away, something which occurs INSTANTLY for valid apps, it was a good guess that my log and pass was being sent to a keylogger somewhere. Oh, it looks like a usefull app, but to STEAL a demonoid account? Someone stole my Piratebay account, but that place has been useless since 2002 or so. Demonoid has been for me a very useful place and I DO NOT want any sleazebags stealing my login info!
Jonny V says
Needless to say I IMMEEDIATELY changed my demonoid password
