This iJailbreak.com How To tutorial will show you how to install the latest XBMC on your Apple TV 2G.
SUPPORTED DEVICES:
Apple TV 2G
OS(s) NEEDED:
Computer: Mac OS X (Windows support coming soon)
Apple TV 2: iOS 4.1+
PROGRAMS REQUIRED:
Seas0nPass
HARDWARE REQUIRED:
Apple TV 2
STEP 1: Jailbreak your Apple TV 2G
This can be accomplished by using Seas0nPass. For a guide on how to use Seas0nPass, click here.
STEP 2: SSH to the root of your Apple TV 2 using Terminal
To open Terminal, navigate to your Applications folder, open Utilities, and double click on Terminal. Once Terminal is open, type: ‘ssh root@apple-tv.local'
. When prompted for a password, use “alpine”, the default password. If you changed your root password, use it instead.
*Note*: If ‘ssh root@apple-tv.local'
doesn’t work, use your Apple TV’s local IP address instead.
STEP 3: Install XBMC
Paste the following commands into Terminal one by one:
echo "deb http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/atv2 ./" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list
apt-get update
apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2
