It’s been awhile since the release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. There are many Android devices that have received the update over-the-air, but there are still some waiting in line. There’s no official announcement on when the update will arrive for those said devices, with the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 being one of them.
Owners of this device have to be craving to getting their hands on the update seeing how the Note 2 is coming stocked with the latest firmware. However, they can get the update through the MKalter Jelly Bean ROM. The credit goes to XDA Developers’ member mkalter. The ROM is based on the XXLS2 build.
Here are some pointers: Apply the steps only on the Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 and not on other Samsung variants or handsets. Charge the battery properly. Make sure the USB cable of your device is available and ensure that you have access to a Windows PC. Disable any security softwares that can access the phablet. Backup all the important data on the device. Please also note that the guide is to be followed at your own risk.
Step 1: Root and install ClockworkMod Recovery on your device. Ignore this step if it’s already been done.
Step 2: Download the MKalter Jelly Bean ROM.
Step 3: Copy the downloaded ROM file from the previous step to the internal SD card of your device.
Step 4: Switch off the device and boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this press the keys of Home, Power and Volume Up until the recovery menu boots up. Here you can use the Volume keys to navigate through the various options, while tapping the Power button will allow you to select an option.
Step 5: Select ‘Backup and Restore’ > ‘Backup’ to create a Nandroid backup of the existing ROM.
Step 6: Select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ > ‘Yes’.
Step 7: Select ‘install zip from sd card’ > ‘choose zip from sd card’ > ROM ‘.zip file’. Confirm the action when prompted to install the ROM.
Step 8: Select ‘Go Back’ > ‘Reboot system now’.
Your Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 now has MKalter’s Jelly Bean ROM installed. Enjoy!
