Android users are familiar with excess battery drainage on their devices. Most of the time this has to do with the cores of the device consuming battery life, even when it is idle. Owners of the Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 are in luck thanks to XDA Developers’ member eugene373. He has developed a mod that puts the cores of the CPU to sleep when they’re not functioning. It’s called the CPU Sleeper.
The mod works on all quad-core and dual-core devices. When the screen of the device turns off, the mod puts the 3 CPUs offline, and leaves only 1 running. When the device is held and the screen turns on again, the three CPUs come back online. It’s a simple hack that will be very handy for all android users.
Anyone thinking of following this guide should note that it’s for the Sprint variant of the S3 model number SPH-L710. It won’t be applicable on other variants. Handset USB drivers should be installed prior to attempting the tutorial. A Windows PC is required. Even though the guide is meant for the battery, you should charge the phone properly. We also recommend you to create a backup of the files that you consider important. Lastly, the steps are going to be followed at your own risk. iJailbreak, the developer or any other third party won’t be held liable for any loss or damage caused by following this guide.
Tutorial
Step 1: Download CPU Sleeper and Android app installer to your computer.
Step 2: Connect your Galaxy S3 to the your computer.
Step 3: Extract the Android app installer .zip file that you downloaded in the first step to any preferred folder on your computer.
Step 4: Next, copy the .apk file for the CPU Sleeper downloaded in step 1 to the same folder where you copied the installer.
Step 5: To start the installation process, double click the file Drag and drop files here.bat.
Step 6: A command prompt will be presented to you. Type in the file name (CPUSleep.apk) and hit the Enter key. The file will now be installed on your device.
