Last week we showed you how to play NES games online through WebNES and now there is a new web-based emulator, but this time it allows you to play Game Boy games. The emulator was developed by Ben Midi and what’s neat about these web-based emulators is no Jailbreak is required.
Unfortunately unlike WebNES with this emulator there is no way to add ROMs at the time of writing this article. There are, however, 13 pre-loaded games from you to choose from that include:
- Mario Land
- Tetris
- Dr. Mario
- Bomberman
- Kirby’s Dream Land
- Kirby XXL
- Space Invaders
- Motocross Maniacs
- Bomb Jack
- Boxxle 2
- Castelian
- Centipede
- Stopwatch
You can play these games in both portrait mode or landscape mode, with landscape mode being the best experience. There is not much lag but the touchscreen controls are certainly not the best.
To test out this web based Gameboy emulator head on over to http://www.benmidi.com/gameboy/ on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This does not work on a desktop computer. It’s worth noting that the site initially loads Mario Land, but you can tap on the drop down menu brings up the others available games.
Of course if you’re looking for the real deal check out GBA4iOS 7.
