The date is set! Apple will be introducing new iPhone and other products on September 12th. The company sent out invites to the media, with the words ‘Gather Round’. The event will be taking place at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, Cupertino, California.
Rumors and reports about the new iPhone have been plenty. It is believed that Apple will be launching three variants, once again, of the iPhone. However, this time, there would be only iPhone 9, and the other two would be successors of the iPhone X.
New iPhone
We expect Apple to release three iPhone models, one with an LCD display, while the other two would come with OLED panels. The iPhone X successor is said to come in two display sizes. One would have a 5.8-inch display, similar to the current iPhone X, and the other would come with a larger 6.5-inch screen. The third iPhone, would be the successor of the iPhone 8, but only one variant would be available.
You can expect Apple to release a single iPhone 9 model, with a 6.1-inch LCD display. This would be the base variant in the new iPhone line-up, and is expected to cost similar to the iPhone 8. In terms of hardware, all three models would have a notch at the front, and improved internals. The iPhone X variants are said to come with an improved dual-camera setup, but the iPhone 9 would come with a single camera. We can expect improved FaceID tech, and newer processors.
New Apple Watch
Apart from new iPhones, Apple is also expected to announce a refreshed Apple Watch. The Watch Series 4 will have a bigger display and slimmer bezels, following the design language of the iPhone X. It is also said to feature a newer chipset, non-movable buttons, and longer lasting battery.
iOS 12
Apple has been beta testing iOS 12 for a while now, and it will release the public version on September 12th. The new iOS 12 update brings plenty of new features, and improvements. It will also release macOS Mojave 10.14 during or after the event. Expect release dates for watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 to be announced as well.
That’s all we expect from this years September iPhone event. Most likely, you will not see any major new features with the iPhone X models, as this is just an ‘S’ update. Are you excited about the event? What do you think of the invite? Is there any hidden meaning there?
