The Apple event for 2018 is just a day away, and we have had plenty of leaks in the last week. One such leak, consisted of renders of the upcoming iPad Pro 2018, the 12.9-inch model. We are not sure if Apple would release the new and updated iPad Pro and MacBook during this event, or if the company would schedule another event.
As you can see from the rendered image above, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 seems to have slimmer bezels, and lacks the Home button. The rumors had indicated such a design change, but we had never seen any renders before. It does look quite good, and will definitely improve the footprint of the device. Of course, these are just renders, and we can’t be a 100 percent sure.
12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018
Alright, so one of the major changes with the 2018 iPad Pro, is the new design with slim bezels. There is also no home button, which means that the only way to unlock the iPad Pro, would be via Face unlock. Apple will most likely include the FaceID tech from the iPhone X, on the new iPad Pro.
It looks like there is no headphone jack either, and you get a charging port and speakers at the bottom of the device. The tablet does have the Power button and the volume buttons, but the smart connector has been relocated to the bottom of the device. This is probably because the iPad Pro can’t be used in landscape position when using FaceID to unlock. Strangely, the renders also show another button/connector on the right side of the tablet. Perhaps this is where the Smart Keyboard cover would get linked.
You can also see antenna bands at the top and bottom of the tablet, a single rear camera with flash, and dual microphones at the top. There are speaker grills at each corner of the tablet. Overall, the new design looks sleeker and better than the current model. Here’s a video showcasing all the renders.
iPad Pro 2018: Specifications, and Features
It is expected that Apple would introduce two variants of the iPad Pro, just like last year. One with a 12.9-inch display, and the other with a 10.5-inch screen. Both of the devices would come with a True Tone LCD panel, with high refresh rates. The tablets should be powered by the upcoming A12X chipsets, which would be much faster and efficient than the current A11X. We can expect around 4GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and support for Apple Pencil. There have also been rumors suggesting that Apple could use a USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning connector, and introduced 18W fast charging.
That’s all we know for now, but we will know more soon. Once again, it is not guaranteed that Apple would launch the iPad Pro 2018 at the special event tomorrow.
