A new lockscreen vulnerability has been discovered that allows anyone to bypass the lockscreen and gain access to your personal information. It is worth noting that although this vulnerability exists it is extremely hard to replicate and thus poses little actual risk.
According to AllThingsD, however, Apple is taking the new lockscreen vulnerability seriously and will be releasing a patch in iOS 7.0.1. In the mean time you can easily protect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad by simply disabling the Control Center on the lockscreen from the Settings app.
And of course if you want to try it out then you can follow the steps shown below:
- Swipe up on the Lock screen to access the Control Center.
- Next open the Alarm Clock app from the Control Center
- Then, hold down on the power button to bring up options to ‘Power Off’ or ‘Cancel’
- Tap Cancel and then quickly double click the Home button to launch the multitasking screen
It takes awhile to get the timing right, but it does indeed work.
